Women driven entrepreneurship

A group of female micro-entrepreneurs in El Salvador and Luxembourg’s own OUNI, a startup cooperative looking to set up a package free shop, have surprising parallels as the Luxembourg Microfinance and Development Fund reports. Both groups of social entrepreneurs have had to get to grips with the challenges of financing and business skills, but with support and determination, they have made excellent progress at getting their businesses going.

As she explains, changing your investment approach to take women’s role in companies into consideration may have an impact not only on returns but also on society more broadly. The ripple effects of investments in women are wide reaching and can lead to improvements in quality of life in both developed and developing countries. However this area is still in its nascent stages and initiatives to support women in business need investor buy in.
